A Christmas recap

Seeing that I haven’t posted anything personal in awhile, I thought I’d share with you all some pictures from our wonderful holiday! 

This year, for some reason, felt very different than other Christmas’ in the past.  This holiday felt like it was all about family.  It could be because it’s been such an incredibly busy year that we haven’t seen each other as much as usual.  It could also be that we’re all continuously growing older, and “bigger”, and busier.  There was so much to catch up on, so many great people to visit with, and…so much food to eat!  We actually had my dad’s side of the family over Christmas night for a change.  Traditionally, Christmas is at grandma’s (which I love, too!), but this year, we decided to spend it here in Sulphur at our house instead.  It was so nice to finally break out all my nice wedding gifts & use them!  (I quickly learned a few pieces were made of silver & that silver cannot stay wet for a long period of time!)

We got a dishwasher from my parents from Christmas, which I was sooo happy about!  Adam said part of my Christmas present was the installation of the new dishwasher.    He also had a great Christmas…he received a Nintendo Wii!  Now, he DID get it pre-Christmas, but that was what he wanted, so he’s been addicted to that thing for the past three weeks.  My brother also has one, so they’ve been having some great brother-in-law bonding time.  I also have to say that the Wii is one of THE coolest gaming systems I’ve ever seen!  Grant it, Adam & I aren’t very big “gamers”, but that thing is awesome!  He got a truck game, “Excite Truck”, from my brother for it & it’s so cool because you actually steer the trucks by rotating the controller left & right!

He also got “Guitar Hero II” from his parents (along with a new yard blower-yeah!) and we really didn’t have a clue what that was.  It’s an awesome game for Playstation 2 that has had Adam’s attention since he opened the box.  It’s a great game with awesome music that I can actually “stand” to hear for the 5 or so hours straight he’s been playing it lately!

As this being my final session from last week, I must say, it was a fun one!  I met Kim & Todd a few months ago & we had such a great time with these two girls in the fall.  Well, Todd took it upon himself, as his own “project” to schedule another session with me during the holidays.  His main objective:  to capture the girls’ nightly ritual of reading books in bed.  He had told me this was something he’s been wanting for awhile, so I just hope I was able to meet his expectations!  We also took advantage of this time to get some new family portraits.  I love photographing these two girls.  They are the best subjects for any photographer who’s quick on their feet because, as you can see, they never stop!

Obviously, there are many many shots above, but I had the hardest time narrowing down my favorites!  Mr. Todd, I hope you love them as much as I do. 

Diana & Logan

I hope everyone had an awesome holiday season & the much needed rest that we’ve all been waiting for!

I have just this post & one more, tying up the last of my family sessions I had last week.

I had such a fun afternoon with these two!  They just couldn’t get enough of the camera & there was so much….energy …between these two, which kept me on my toes for our entire session.  We started off at Logan & Diana’s house, then used the incentive of decorating cookies at grandma’s to squeeze out just a few more shots before we headed in for a snack.  We had a wonderful afternoon & a great time. 

Jake

Meet Jake.  This guy was sooo easy to shoot, I kept telling him he could definately pass as a model!  We had another great session with great weather & new places!  I’ve kind of grown up alongside Jake, with his sister, Brandi, being one of my close friends for the past 10 years.  It’s so cool to watch everyone else grow up & still remember when they were just little kids running around not long ago.  Thanks for such an easy, fun, & relaxed session, Jake.  I hope y’all have a great Christmas!

Becky & Rob

I had the honor of photographing Becky & Rob’s wedding on December 9th here in Sulphur.  Dr. Rob Janot has been taking care of my eyes since I was probably 5 years old.  He’s a great friend of our family’s & a wonderful optometrist.  These two had a beautiful Christmas wedding at Marilyn’s Veranda & their Christmas touch to their special day was just gorgeous!  The bridesmaids’ dresses were just beautiful & Becky chose a wedding gown with a short white winter jacket, which was perfect for a day that was 38 degrees!
