Our mini-vacation at the camp

Although we had all originally planned a huge Arkansas vacation for the past week and a half (like last year’s), due to circumstances with Dad, that was cancelled.  However, Adam & I did decide to take a mini-trip to my aunt & uncle’s camp on the Sabine River for a few days to get away.  He had taken off a total of 8 days for the trip & so we thought we’d might as well make use of some of it!

As you will see below, the mimosa trees just grew wild all over their property & I had so much fun taking pictures of them.  The husband made me leave all my “big fun” cameras at home so I could just “relax” for a change.  That always makes me laugh b/c that’s what I do to relax as well as work, it’s just two different types of photography!  🙂

So I left my big stuff @ home & just brought my point & shoot camera.  And this just goes to show that you don’t have to have big equipment to get fun stuff!

The mimosas at sunset.

A Mimosa flower… this tiny thing was about a 1/2 inch wide (shown here about 4xs it’s actual size)

A view of the camp from the canoe.  You can see the steep walkway to access the canoe, the awesome deck for a good breakfast & the super comfy hammock.

Adam revvin’ up the pit for the “peice de la resistance”… our 24 hour marinaded pork chops.  (Did you know that charcoal gets hotter than gas?!  lol  AND that that means your meat cooks a heck of a lot quicker, too?!  lol  Let’s just say we had some delicious “well done” chops.)

He got a lot of fishing in as well.

Meanwhile, I just played with the camera & the trees.

Another cooking shot… check out Adam’s camping attire:  Jeff Gordon fishing hat, old t-shirt, green shorts, socks, & his mud boots… camping is fun!

Mom, Chase & Alonna drove up and spent the day with us.  Adam’s prepped lunch on the grill again… this time went a little better.

More of the trees.  Hey- there’s not a lot around up there.  Trees are about it!

Loved this in black & white, too.

We canoed every evening, sometimes fishing, too.  This place is like Heaven… around every bend in the river is another wild & unihabited beach.  It was so fun to dock out little Indian canoe & walk in the white powdery sand – right here in LA!

I figured I’d post just one of me seeing there’s so many of Adam… that’s one of the “downfalls” I guess of marrying a photographer!  So here’s me on a beach with my cover-up & fun floppy hat.  (All images taken in bathing suit attire of ANY of us- Lonni, too!- have been withheld to protect the innocent.  🙂

We found tons of deer tracks, turtle tracks, coyote tracks, and bird tracks.  These two were some of my favorites.

And finally, the very last part of the sunset every night was gorgeous.  Adam would continue to fish & I would lay in the hammock until it was finally time to go in.  We were so blessed with amazing weather for our entire mini-trip!

Travis was name after his late Uncle Travis, Morgan’s brother.  Kayla requested that we photograph Travis at two years old in the same overalls that his uncle wore when he was two.  I loved the idea!

And one “behind-the-scenes” shot…  I love it!

Beau then decided he’d been good enough for his pictures… it was time to let loose & play in the water!  Of course, he’d run right out & greet Morgan with a good shake everytime!

Andee & Chris

It’s been awhile since anything fresh has gone up with all the excitement we’ve had lately in our personal lives, so I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite shots from Andee & Chris’ wedding at the end of May.  Enjoy!

I just thought this one was so funny!  I just loved the silhouette from my strobe mixed with the funny faced moment…. don’t hate me, Andee!  🙂

The gorgeous flowers.  Wendy @ Tous Les Fleurs did an amazing job!

LOVED the Converse shoes!  All groomsmen, ushers, ringbearer, and even the dads wore them!

The guys…

Their serious “GQ look”…  (you know they loved it!)

The cake

Chris’ amazing groom’s cake featured the bright colors of #33, Mr. Bird!  Each of the many strwberries surrounding the cake was dipped in the white chocolate with the green detail.

I love this one with both of the dad’s sharing in a cigar smoke.

Meredith & Russ (and Amy, too!)

Amy & I had previously met for a session of sweet little Russell, with beautiful weather & a gorgeous one peice outfit.  However, Russ just wasn’t feeling quite up for pictures that day and we concluded that he just might need the helpful assistance of Big Sister Meredith to get the best laughs out.  So, we happily re-scheduled and here are the results.  As you will see, our afternoon was nothing BUT laughs!

Meet Miss Meredith

and little Russ

They thought it was absolutely halarious that they could not “sit on their own”.  About two seconds after Russ was put in front of big sister, the little structure would topple over… either going forward or back.  They thought this was the best part!

And a few times, going backwards turned into pure fun being stretched out on the porch.  Meredith couldn’t stop giggling… and neither could we.

Dad’s accident

834-lj-w.jpg

815lj-w.jpg

I took these pictures of my dad about 2 weeks ago.  He absolutely LOVES taking these crazy 75 mile bike rides every Saturday morning.

This past Saturday’s ride did not turn out well.  Riding about 12 miles North of Sulphur with a group of guys, he fell.  We’ve received numerous calls these past three days, with people saying they heard he was on a motorcycle, that it was a head injury, spinal injury, etc.  News travels fast, I know, especially when “Dr. Ardoin” got in such a bad wreck.  So, to clarify the travelling news, he was riding in a “pack” (kind of like ducks in the sky) and his tire rubbed another guys’ tire going 27 mph & he flipped over the bike, landing on his head & sliding about 10 feet down the pavement.  His collarbone is broken in numerous places and his pelvic bone is cracked in two places.

He’ll be in the hospital for a number of days, until he can move.  Right now, he just can’t.  We don’t know much more than that so far… being two bad injuries that have to heal on their own, it will probably just take lots of time.

Please keep him in your prayers.

Happy B-day to me!

7497lj-w.jpg

7511lj-w.jpg

That’s right, folks!  Monday will be the 18th & I’ll hit a whopping 23 years old!  I know, I’m so young, etc, etc.  🙂  But time is definately flying by a heck of a lot faster than it used to!

So, what we have here is my birthday present from Adam.  One confession we can always make is that we’re BOTH so very bad at gift giving!  So, as soon as he bought it on Friday, only about an hour after it was wrapped by the jewelers, I was opening it up!  He said he was hoping for a really good reaction, but had no clue he’d get the one he did… which was me with a dropped jaw, slowing backing up against the cabinet!  To say the least, I loved it!

It’s a perfect gift for someone who has to dress up often.  (The morning of our wedding, there was a full set of Mikimoto pearls delivered to the house, which I also wear now to every wedding.)  So, I’d like to say, “Thanks, babe!”  Ya did great once again!  🙂
