2000 Health Foundation Gala Headshots

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been scheduling little “headshot sessions” for each of the featured “Local Celebrity” Couples/Dancers for The 2000 Health Foundation’s upcoming fundraiser: A “Platinum & Pearls” Gala on September 16th @ L’Auberge.

I have already worked with Stephanie earlier this summer to create their billboards.  (Blostpost featured here.)  I’ll also be covering the Gala that night, showcasing the competing dancers. (From ballroom to salsa & other dances I can’t remember- they will all be competing!)  Being a non-profit organization, I’ve “donated” & given a large discount for all of my services.  But we’ve also just added another incentive:

**For every order placed from Gala coverage (which will be on the online ordering), LJP will donate 10% back!**

So, folks, if you’re looking for a great reason to have a night out, grab your husband, get a babysitter, & buy a ticket for you & your spouse!  (If I wasn’t covering it, you can bet Adam & I would be going!)  For more info, contact the 2000 Health Foundation @ 337-562-1137.

I tried to get a little information from each of the couples to feature their “celebrity status”.  I don’t think I have something for everyone right now, but when I get a little more info, I’ll update it.  The Gala is on a Sunday night.

Artesia opened today!

A friend of mine, Christina Plauche’, sent me an invitation to their V.I.P. Party that was held last night for Artesia.  She’s the manager of the new clothing & accessory boutique in Lake Charles.  (If the name sounds familiar, there IS a sister store in Lafayette.)

Artesia had an absolutely amazing turnout for their invitation-only party!  My good friend Christina, my mom & I went to check it out.  Wine & appetizers were served, which included sushi (& Marcia Plauche’s amazing chicken sandwhiches)!

I picked up a few things, including this cool fish necklace.  (The whole fish moves, even the fin & tail!)

6675ar-w.jpg

And this really huge bag, which I will be calling my “Mary Poppins Bag” because I should be able to pull just about anything out of it!  (I tend to be a small purse girl, but this one I just felt I “needed” too.  lol)

6684ar-w.jpg

I also picked up a shirt & dress, too!

Well, ladies, Artesia was great!  It officially opened this morning if anyone want to check it out!  (It’s across the street from Bailey’s Audio in the old “Italian Villa” building.)

Finally – New cards!

6667lj-w.jpg

New LJ cards were finally created, printed & are now on the table!

When I started the business professionally in 2004, I had brainstormed on what to call it.  So very proud of myself, I thought of & decided on “Through the Lens Photography”.  After registering my new business with the state, city, & getting all of my liscensing, I THEN realized that a quick Google Search brought up several Through the Lens websites throughout the country!  So, when the launch of my website came in February 2006, all Through the Lens domain names were taken.  (All the way to “ThroughtheLens1.com” & “ThroughtheLens.org, .net, .biz, .info, .us”)

But www.LindseyJanies.com was a little more of an internet rarity, thus the beginning of a name change came into play.

So, new cards have finally been made with my amazing logo that I LOVE created by David @ Pro Sign Effex (337-377-7309) last December, my website, & my “new” studio address of Sulphur, La!  All of my little forces have finally been combined!  😛  (I know, I’m a geek.)

Keisha & Richard

All blog stalkers – do not fret!  Many many more posts to come!  🙂

In all honesty, I have a dentist appointment (with my dad- yeah!) Thursday morning & as soon as I’m back from that I plan on doing some serious catch-up!

Part of the blog catch up is some from Keisha & Ross’ wedding on the 11th.  I can’t really tell you why, but my detail shots seemed to be some of my favorites to blog!

To start, the rings.

The lobby of the hotel was so awesome & the staff was so nice.  When they saw a 120 pound girl rounding the corner with a fat camera bag & a massive dress in an even more massive pink bag, they just asked what they could do to help!  I told them that letting me use their lobby & hang this big thing would be enough.  🙂

Keisha pointed something out as I was going crazy over her choice of wedding shoes:  I’ve ALWAYS gone crazy over her shoes every time I’ve seen her!  Well, except when she’s in her steel toe engineer boots, but every OTHER time… lol

Kyle, Keisha’s son, looked so so cute!  Too bad he was walking with his cousin, or I would have had those two “hooked up” by the end of the day.  😉

Keisha’s grandpa catching a few ZZZ’s before the ceremony started.  (I took this with my 30mm, so I was right next to him & every time I took a picture, he’d open his eyes just for a sec, then doze off again!  I don’t think he realized who I was taking a picture of!  :P)

Smoothies!

So I can’t really say all that I’d love to about these images, but I could & DID want blog some of them.  Don’t they just make your mouth water?!

I’ve recently had some really cool inquiries for some commercial work that I’ve been thrilled to work on.  This has been one of my favorites, though!  I’ve had a blast doing these & I have a second session to come!

As soon as everything is completed on my end with my clients, I’ll be able to share more info.  In the meantime, check back for some more with gourmet coffees & a few more smoothies.

Caroline & Jason’s blogpost- Finally! :)

I’m finally catching up just a tad on my blogging.  But I’m very very happy to begin the “catch up” with a few from Caroline & Jason’s wedding!

Caroline, you are so so wonderful.  I cannot thank you enough for your patience!  I know you’ve been checking the blog daily waiting for some familiar images & I’m so glad I can finally show you some!

Rain has really been an issue for some of my past weddings, including Erika & Brett’s that I just did this past Saturday.  It just keeps coming at the worst times!  But, in the midst of my own selfish frustrations, I look over at these gorgeous girls (Caroline & Erika) & see… that they’re still smiling!  They did not turn into a “bridezilla”  (lol), nor did they begin to tear up, or freak out.  Both of them have such AMAZING personalities.  And, although the planning of their day could be counted back as far as a year (or since they were 13), they know & realize that what is MOST important is still there – rain or not!  Two beautiful people are getting married.  Bottom line. The rest is just laniappe!

So, I present to you some of my most favorite images from Caroline & Jason’s big day.  One filled with lots of “good luck rain” & tons of love.  🙂

We started the day at the salon, Hair One.

The girls dressed at Caroline’s grandmother’s home.  I fell in love with the house!  It was the perfect backdrop for me.  I had a blast using all the color!

I just love this picture!  Not really sure why… the quilt, an unusual dressing shot at grandma’s…  🙂

The outside-ontop-of-a-hill ceremony was moved in the dry indoors.  I think the lighting worked out perfectly.

Ironically, right after the ceremony, blue skies began to come out.  With a parking lot jam packed with cars, we found a small area with a simple backdrop.

We pulled off this group shot using about 10 feet of concrete.  Ask that group how squished they were!

Caroline, you full wedding should be up tomorrow!  Congrats, you two!  🙂

Studio closed on Thursday for Marine Funeral

 96chris-w.jpg

I just got back from the visitation for Chris LeBleu.  I’m on my way out the door for an engagement session, but decided I want to go to the funeral tomorrow as well.  It’s at 1:30 tomorrow at the Catheral in downtown Lake Charles.

Chris & Melany were my very first couple that I had at the Cathedral.  The first of so so many gorgeous weddings that take place there, including my own.  The funeral, ironically, will be held there as well.

Chris served in Iraq right up until a few days before their wedding in October 2004.  About a month after the wedding, Chris got sick.  He’s been battling a severe “mystery illness”, later diagnosed as Hepatitis C, ever since.  I don’t really know all the details, but it was confirmed that he contracted it while serving as a Marine in Iraq.  In January 2005, hours before they thought they would lose him, a liver was donated and saved his life once again.

He passed away this past Monday.  If you’d like more information on him, just google his name.

Please keep Melany & their families in your prayers.
